Happy things

I am feeling really good about myself tonight. A few days back I was bouncing ideas at heileen (who has been absolutely fabulous to discuss ideas and fabrics, is the best possible trooper for improbable fittings and lets me shoot off all my stress at her, seriously, she rocks) and laid out a plan for the few kid-free days I get during the vacations. And for once in my creative life, I am actually on track ! I just finished machine-stitching the binding to the bottom of the stays (in (almost) one pass no pinnning involved. I AM getting better at this !). They need grommets (ordered and waiting for me to pick them up tomorrow or on Friday) and the binding sewn by hand to the inside of the stays at the bottom. The top is done, and the straps, too.
I promised you pictures earlier :
This is the oen that shows best how the fabrics changes with the light, also some of the glittering effect of the glod threads is lost in it.
In other happy things, I have
The back of Lady Tremaine's gown - the silk ended up being a little more muted than the movie version, but still gorgeous and more bridal looking. The tulle petticoat is way fluffier than I hoped it would be with the amount of abric I had, which is cool.
A yummy rhubarb pie that has since been eaten, but I need to note down how I made it, because it was GOOD. Today was a happy food dy, too. I took Toad with me to the market in Eybens, and it's sooo different from the one here. It shows the area is wealthier : on top of just a lot of the basic fruit and veggies, they have all sorts of ymore gourmet food. I got Toad some tourtons to eat tomorrow in the train, and arancinis for the whole family today. And then I encountered the cheese booth of doom and had to come home with foor different varieties. Smoked cheddar is DA BOMB ! I had to promise Toad we'd come back fro fresh stuffed pasta next week. This girl has good Grenoble roots (because we're the one city in France that eats the most fresh pasta, apparently)
Speakig of her... I know it's cliché, but it seems to me I've just turned my head and she's grown 5 inches...
Since I'm on track with my program, and I even started patching the hole Heimlich made in his silk velvet cape (that he needs for the runway... well, he'll be a patched prince), I am going to enjoy the evenign and relax, catch up on some Project Runway and sew down some stays binding.
